Getting the right nipple shield size is crucial for comfortable and effective pumping. Here's your step-by-step guide to finding your perfect fit.
What You'll Need
- A ruler or measuring tape (millimeters preferred) - or try our measuring card for easier sizing
- A mirror for better visibility
- Good lighting
Step-by-Step Measuring Instructions
1. Measure Your Nipple Diameter
Measure across the base of your nipple (not the areola) at its widest point. This should be done when your nipple is at rest, not erect.
2. Add 2-4mm for Comfort
Your nipple shield should be 2-4mm larger than your nipple diameter to allow for comfortable movement and prevent friction.
Size Chart
Nipple Diameter | Recommended Shield Size |
---|---|
15-17mm | 19-21mm shield |
18-20mm | 22-24mm shield |
21-23mm | 25-27mm shield |
24-26mm | 28-30mm shield |

If you are finding pumping painful because the shield is too large? Or not getting the right suction, our shield inserts are a great way to cushion your nipple for the perfect fit, ideal for smaller nipples.
If you are unsure of your size, we have a measuring card that will accurately measure your correct size.
Compatible with our Bluetooth pump, the insert helps to decrease the size of the suction tunnel and makes the existing shields smaller.
These are single items and sold separately.
- What Plug can I use with my Pump? 5v 1amp is required to charge your pump for the warranty to be upheld.
- How often should I change the Wearable Valve and Diaphragm? These should be changed every 4 - 6 weeks to maintain optimum suction of the pump.
- How do I wash these? All parts except the motor should be washed in warm soapy water after each use and sterilized once a day.
- My pump is working but no milk coming out? You need to measure your nipple to make sure you have the right size shield in (these are found under your pump in the box). Only your nipple should be in the flange or shield if required.
