Nipple Shield – Soft Silicone Support for Breastfeeding
Our nipple shields are made from ultra-thin, flexible silicone to support breastfeeding when needed. Shaped like a hat with a crown and brim, they help milk flow through small holes while allowing close skin contact—thanks to thoughtful cut-outs for your baby's nose and chin.
When to use a nipple shield:
- Sore or damaged nipples
- Flat/inverted nipples or other latching challenges
- Baby transitioning from bottle to breast
- Feeding support for premature babies
- Short-term use once mature milk has come in (2–5 days post-birth)
Using your nipple shield:
- Choose the right size to avoid discomfort or reduced milk flow
- Apply breastmilk inside and on the tip to encourage latching
- Stretch the shield over your nipple and align any cut-outs for baby's comfort
- Seek support from a lactation consultant for best results
Signs of a good latch:
- Baby's mouth wide and lips over the brim
- Chin touching the breast, jaw moving rhythmically
- No pain or rubbing for mum, milk visible in shield after feed
Cleaning instructions:
- Rinse in cold water after use
- Wash with hot soapy water and rinse thoroughly
- Dry with a clean towel or paper towel and store in a clean, covered container
Weaning tips:
- Try removing the shield mid-feed
- Offer the breast when baby is calm or sleepy
- Encourage skin-to-skin contact
- Be patient—every feed is a step forward
Delivery:
NZ delivery - will be delivered by NZ Post for delivery within NZ for shipping within 1-3 days depending on where you live. WE DO NOT CHARGE EXTRA FOR RURAL DELIVERY.
AUS delivery - We use NZ Courier Direct from NZ to Australia and that links in with AUS Post. Delivery is between 4-10 days. It is more expensive but we have chosen to absorb some of that cost for you so you can get your parcels sooner.
Please check we may have to put a "pre-order date" on a product of when we expect it to us, if it is not currently in our stock room. We will clearly have this date next to the product when you add to basket. We can often send earlier than the "pre order date". If shipping to us is held up we will let you know via email of the delay.
