Size chart

Getting the right nipple shield size is crucial for comfortable and effective pumping. Here's your step-by-step guide to finding your perfect fit.

What You'll Need

  • A ruler or measuring tape (millimeters preferred) - or try our measuring card for easier sizing
  • A mirror for better visibility
  • Good lighting

Step-by-Step Measuring Instructions

1. Measure Your Nipple Diameter

Measure across the base of your nipple (not the areola) at its widest point. This should be done when your nipple is at rest, not erect.

2. Add 2-4mm for Comfort

Your nipple shield should be 2-4mm larger than your nipple diameter to allow for comfortable movement and prevent friction.

Size Chart

Nipple Diameter Recommended Shield Size
15-17mm 19-21mm shield
18-20mm 22-24mm shield
21-23mm 25-27mm shield
24-26mm 28-30mm shield

Signs You Have the Right Size

  • Your nipple moves freely in the tunnel
  • No pain or discomfort during pumping
  • Effective milk expression
  • No white ring around your nipple after pumping

Signs Your Shield is Too Small

  • Nipple rubs against the sides
  • Pain during pumping
  • White ring around nipple after use
  • Reduced milk output

Signs Your Shield is Too Large

  • Areola is pulled into the tunnel
  • Reduced suction effectiveness
  • Discomfort from too much tissue being drawn in

  • What Plug can I use with my Pump? 5v 1amp is required to charge your pump for the warranty to be upheld.
  • How often should I change the Wearable Valve and Diaphragm? These should be changed every 4 - 6 weeks to maintain optimum suction of the pump.
  • How do I wash these? All parts except the motor should be washed in warm soapy water after each use and sterilized once a day.
  • My pump is working but no milk coming out? You need to measure your nipple to make sure you have the right size shield in (these are found under your pump in the box). Only your nipple should be in the flange or shield if required.
  • How do I measure my nipple? Measure the width of your nipple in mm and add 4mm to this total. This will allow 2mm either side of your nipple inside the shield so that it is most comfortable for you.
